open-source.store is a curated directory of open-source alternatives to proprietary software. We aim to collect as little data as possible. This page explains what we collect and why.
We use Plausible Analytics, a privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics tool. It measures aggregate traffic (page views, referrers, country, device type) without cookies and without collecting personal data. We cannot identify individual visitors, and no cross-site tracking takes place. Because no personal data or cookies are used, no consent banner is required.
When you submit a tool through our submission form, we store the information you provide — the GitHub repository URL, tool name, description, selected category, and any proprietary product it replaces — so our moderators can review it before it appears in the catalog. We do not require an account and do not ask for personal information. To prevent spam, submissions are protected by Cloudflare Turnstile (see below).
We do not sell data, we do not run advertising trackers, and we do not create user accounts or profiles. Outbound links to tools' websites and repositories are governed by those third parties' own policies.
