Built on the Servarr C# and React foundation, Prowlarr consolidates more than five hundred torrent trackers and Usenet indexers behind a single API. The application handles credential storage, health checks, and category routing centrally before pushing those configurations into downstream tools like Sonarr and Radarr. This direct synchronization eliminates the repetitive maintenance of separate Torznab and Newznab feeds across independent media managers.
Where Prowlarr fits
In self-hosted media stacks, indexer management historically required running separate utilities: Jackett translated queries for BitTorrent trackers, while NZBHydra handled Usenet feeds. Connecting those services was entirely manual. Administrators copied API keys and Torznab URLs into Sonarr, repeated the configuration inside Radarr, and revisited multiple interfaces whenever a tracker rotated domains. Prowlarr replaces that fragmented workflow by unifying torrent and Usenet indexers into a single control plane that actively drives downstream applications.
